Project of Distinction Award
Prairie Ridge Elementary School This school of 600 students is arranged in four well defined small learning communities, each with its own activities area and presentation capabilities. A "services to the students" concept is articulated by Library Media Resources brought to the small learning communities and a thin client remote computing system through wireless connections to the district wide system. An inclusive planning process involving teachers, parents, students, senior citizens, Board of Education, administration and community members provided input that impacted design considerations. The use of color creates playful, exciting spaces but not to the detriment of the learning environment.
