Welcome to British Columbia and to the CEFPI 2009 Pacific Northwest Regional
Conference
On behalf of the British Columbia Chapter of CEFPI, it is my honour to invite you to join colleagues and
suppliers in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, this spring April 29 – May 2, 2009. Bring your families
to enjoy the spectacular scenery, culture, and outdoor activities of this international seaport.
The conference theme "Reaching for Gold" fits well with the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics coming to Vancouver
and Whistler, and represents the striving of our members to achieve "gold" in the planning and design of top
quality educational facilities. This will be reflected in the keynote speakers, excellent presentations,
working sessions, and site tours.
The conference venue is the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel, selected for its strategic location close to the harbour
front action, view of the North Shore mountains, and accessibility to Stanley Park with its famous sea-wall
for walking, jogging, and biking. The conference ends on the weekend that starts the Alaska cruise season so
the first cruise ships will be arriving in Vancouver and some of you may wish to follow the conference with a
cruise to Alaska. Other local recreation opportunities include spring skiing, golfing, cycling, sailing,
harbour cruises, and hiking the famous Grouse Grind up Grouse Mountain to the mountain-top restaurant.
