This year's regional conference promises to be a spectacular event combining stimulating workshops, informative seminars with the adventure of a wilderness setting in the Last Frontier. The conference begins with a Museum tour in Anchorage, Alaska on May 18 in the recently completed expansion designed by internationally renowned architect David Chipperfield. The next day we ride the train 100 miles north to the small community of Talkeetna, nestled in the shadow of North America's tallest peak, Mt. McKinley.
Steven Heppell will be joining us for two days of discussion and workshops on the future of learning. For those of you that saw Stephen's keynote at the international conference in San Diego you know what a dynamic speaker and thinker he is. This is a great opportunity to work with him in small group settings where we can mutually explore ideas, challenges and solutions. The conference wraps up on May 20 with tours of local schools including a 2008 MacConnell finalist and other internationally recognized school projects.
Best of all, when the conference is done, Alaska awaits you! Climbing, hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing and boating are all available in the area and Denali National Park is a two hour drive or train ride to the North. Rumor has it that there are some screaming deals on cruises to Vancouver and Seattle still available so make your plans, register early and come visit us. I look forward to seeing you in May.
