Big Plans – Small Buildings
The Southeast Region of CEFPI is calling for submissions for presentations for its 2013 regional conference to be held April 14, 15, and 16 at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
The conference theme is "Big Plans – Small Buildings" with an emphasis on how educational program requirements must be the basis for all subsequent design and construction. This is a continuation of last year's conference theme that explored student-centered learning, but broadens the scope to include the process to that leads to the development of these and other types of effective teaching and learning environments.
Interested presenters are asked to complete the on-line application no later than February 28, 2013. Topics that will be considered for inclusion range from educational planning to best practices in education to innovations in design and construction relevant to school planning and design. Anything that merits consideration during the planning process is a possibility. Interested presenters are encouraged to include case-study examples of projects, focus on lessons-learned, and drill deeply to get at the issues most relevant to school planners, designers, and builders.
Presentations will be 75-minutes in length. The audience will include school planners, central office and building level administrators, architects and engineers, and school building constructors. Facilities will accommodate lecture format, but interested presenters are encouraged to propose formats that will engage their audience beyond listening.
