Washington, DC — Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families, students and staff of Sandy Hook Elementary School and to the entire community of Newtown, Connecticut in the wake of the horrific shooting this morning. The death toll is the highest from a school shooting in U.S. history since a gunman killed 32 people at Virginia tech in 2007. A similar tragedy at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, took the lives of 13 people. CEFPI is committed to making a difference by planning and designing safe, healthy and sustainable learning environments with the goal of avoiding similar horrifying experiences in the future.
