The American Institute of Architects (AIA) announced the
appointment of Bryce A. Weigand, FAIA, to the position of regional
director on the National Board of Directors. In his role, he represents
the Texas region at all AIA Board meetings.
Peter Bachmann, AIA has accepted a new position as director,
architecture and engineering with BL Companies. Prior to his
current position, Bachmann was a partner with HLW International
LLP, responsible for the education practice.
Barton Malow Company announced the retirement of Richard O.
(Dick) Snider, education group senior vice president, after 21 years
of service. Michael Stobak, education group vice president, will now
lead Barton Malow's education group. With over 17 years'
experience with Barton Malow, Stobak has managed 29 major
education construction programs. Doug Maibach, PE, has been
appointed vice president, corporate affairs. Harvey Oliva, vice
president, assumes operations responsibility for the Facilities Group,
which includes diverse projects for corporate and public clients.
John Birath recently joined the staff of SfL+a Architects in
Fayetteville, NC. Birath was formerly associated with TC Architects Inc.
Cadence McShane Corporation, Dallas, Texas announced that
John P. Young has joined the firm as a project estimator for
educational and other construction projects. Prior to joining Cadence
McShane, Young served as a project estimator for L.H. Lacy
Company, Ltd. In Dallas, Texas. The firm promoted Corey Lanham
from assistant superintendent to project superintendent. In his
previous position, Lanham served as assistant superintendent for
Precept Builders, Inc. and Rogers-O'Brien Construction in Dallas.
Davis Carter Scott recently announced the promotion of Chris
Garwood to project director. In addition to his work as a project
director, Garwood serves as the firm's CAD/technology manager.
Additionally, the firm welcomed Stephen A. Smith, AIA, to its
design team in the role of project director.
Harriman Associates announced the appointment of Judy L.
Johnson, AIA, to the position of associate and senior architect in the
firm's Portland, Maine office.
HMFH Architects recently promoted four individuals for their
contributions to client service, visionary design and firm
management. Stepping into their new roles are senior associate
Douglas A. Sacra, LEED AP; and associates Lori Cowles, AIA;
Colin R. Dockrill, AIGA, and Maria Mulligan, AIA.
Danielle V. Hoffer, AIA, REFP; Jeffrey P. Ludwig, AIA; and
Harry B. Pettoni, REFP, studio directors for Gilbert Architects,
Inc. have become vice presidents and shareholders of the privately
held firm.
James H. Jelliffe, AIA joined SHW Group, LLP, in their Greenbelt,
Maryland office. Formerly with Fanning/Howey Associates, Inc.,
Jim Jelliffe has assumed responsibilities as senior project designer
for SHW Group, LLP.
Christopher Ling, AIA, PP, LEED has joined The Prisco Group as
director of architecture. Prior to his present position, Ling served as
district architect for the Pasaic, New Jersey Board of Education.
Marsh Industries announced that William D. Singhaus was named
as a new member of the Board of Directors and will assume the
position of executive vice president on the Board. Singhaus formerly
served as sales and marketing manager for the Visual Products Group
of this company.
MRMArchitecture, Inc. announced the transition of ownership to
Robert Ryan, principal and Jack Barker, AIA, principal. In his new
position, Robert Ryan is responsible for overseeing the design teams
for all health care facilities. With over 25 years of professional
experience, Jack A. Barker, AIA, is responsible for overseeing the
design teams for all educational facilities, K-12, college and
university as well as managing the firms marketing and business
development directives.
The Orcutt/Winslow Partnership was named the 2005 AIA Western
Mountain Region Architectural Firm of the Year.
Theo Pappas, AIA, senior project manager/designer in the firm's
Novi, Michigan office has been named as a principal at
Fanning/Howey Associates, Inc.
Allen Pavelka has accepted a position with Parsons, Las Vegas, Nevada.
David J. Peterson has joined the Scottsdale Unified School District
as chief of facilities maintenance for learners. David Peterson
served as director of operations for the Mesa Unified School District
prior to his current position.
Mark Ranyak, AIA and Sandy Kate have joined HMC Architects
in their San Diego office. Formerly with Fanning/Howey Associates,
Inc., Ohio, they look forward to becoming southern Californians.
William (Burke) Royster joined the Greenville County School
District, Greenville, South Carolina, as deputy superintendent. Prior
to his present position, Royster served as assistant superintendent for
operations, Oconee County School District, Walhalla, South
Carolina.
Robert L. Sands, Jr., CEFPI international board member-at-large,
has joined Durham Public Schools in Durham, North Carolina.
Formerly with MHTN Architects in Salt Lake City, Sands will serve
as executive director, construction and capital planning.
Hugh Skinner, REFP, MCIP and CEFPI president, recently joined
Stantec in Vancouver, BC. Formerly director of planning for the
Rocky View School Division in Calgary, AB, Hugh Skinner will
focus on facilities planning and operations for Stantec.
STR Partners, Chicago, Illinois, recently promoted Michael T.
Henderson, AIA and J. Colby Lewis, AIA, LEED AP, to executive
vice presidents. The firm specializes in architecture, interior design,
cost estimating and roofing for schools.
The Facility Group named Marty Perren as vice president of operations
of the construction division, Facility Construction Management, Inc.
Formerly with Beers Construction Company/Skanska, Perren will be
responsible for managing construction projects and project teams in K-12,
higher education and other niche markets.
Charles Warner, REFP, announced the opening of his new firm,
Warner Concepts, LLC, in Dublin, Ohio. Prior to his new venture,
Warner served as vice president, DeJong & Associates.
Williams + Paddon Architects + Planners, Inc. hired David
Consbruck, AIA, as a director of the firm's Learning Environments
Group. In his new position, Consbruck will lead the firm's
secondary and higher education projects.
Perry A. Willis, AIA recently joined Cecil County Public Schools,
Elkton, Maryland, where he serves as the executive director for
support services.
Scott Witham joined The Thomas Group as principal-in-charge and
will be responsible for project management and business
development. Prior to his current position, Scott Witham served as
a landscape architect and project manager for Cornell University.
